The CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry course, also known as the “White Card” course, is essential for anyone seeking to work on a construction site in Australia. COURSE REQUIREMENTS
  • Age: Participants must be 14 years or older. Those under 18 must provide parental consent.
  • LLN (Language, Literacy and Numeracy) requirement: Adequate language, literacy and numeracy skills to comprehend course material and complete assessments is required.

 NOTE: Students must complete LLN test before attending Face-to-Face or Zoom live session. Entry to the course may be refused if a student cannot demonstrate sufficient LLN skills.

  • Computer Literacy:
    • Have access to a computer with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint installed, and PDF reader capabilities
    • Have access to an internet connection
    • Have access to a smart phone, video camera or web camera
  • Proof of Identity: Learners are required to bring photo identification (ID), such as a driver’s licence or passport on the day of training. Your attendance will be confirmed after sighting the valid photo ID. Statement of Attainment cannot be issued without sighting a valid Photo ID.
  • Confirmation of Attendance: Attendance will be confirmed after sighting the valid Photo ID.
  •  USI (Unique Student Identifier): You must provide us with the USI. If you do have not have one, please create your USI here Or give us consent at the time of booking to create your USI.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) REQUIREMENT

You must have the following PPE items as per Australian Standards listed below:

  • Face-to-face to students will be supplied PPEs in the classroom.
  • Online students must purchase PPEs to demonstrate practical exercises.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Participants will be assessed through a combination of Knowledge Assessment and Practical Skill Assessments.

  • Knowledge Assessment:

Demonstrate an understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles and practice through quizzes (e.g. multiple-choice questions) or short answer questions.

  • Practical Skill Assessments (Workplace Practical Observation):

During the practical exercise, students will be asked to demonstrate how to use a range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPEs include Eye protection / Safety Glasses, Hearing protection / Earmuffs, Hard hat for head protection & High visibility retro reflective vest for this part of assessment.

Assessor will observe them while they demonstrate their skills.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry by email within 24 hours of completion.

White Card Expiry: White cards do not have expiry date as long as you work in the construction industry. However, if you do not work in construction industry for 24 months or more, you have to renew the card.
